Outcomes

Addressing Areas of Need

The Australian Spatial Consortium works through the core spatial information organisations to:

  1. Shape the national agenda and influence the vision, identifying national priorities for infrastructure and capacity building.
  2. Support the CRCSI as an applied research, education and innovation centre with a focus on commercial, environmental, social, efficiency and productivity outcomes .
  3. Seek support for a Centre of Excellence to undertake fundamental research designed to tackle the hard problems, improve existing areas of knowledge and develop new capabilities and skills for the long term.
  4. Facilitate greater access to funding to drive innovation and accelerated adoption of new technologies, systems and applications.
  5. Create international spatial linkages with a special focus on developing international opportunities for business including joint ventures, developing IP access rights, recruiting, research and education.
  6. Provide assistance for education and training, identifying new ways to improve the current situation so that all sectors of the industry have a better chance of having increased access to skilled staff in the long term.
